Longwood University – Farmville, VA

On April 13, I spoke at Longwood University in the small town of Farmville, VA. I was very impressed at their sustainability initiatives on campus and the desire of not only the staff but the students to create more projects. Never underestimate small communities, they are entirely capable of leading the way. I was able to take part in a classroom discussion the next day, talking about the path I took to get to where I am now in my own work and the meeting of many worlds- scientists, indigenous tribes, production crews, animals, and the environment itself. Great questions. It reminded me of the multitude of possibilities college students are facing as they think about the reality of the world after college.
